Treacle tart is almost impossible to talk about without conjuring images of different elements of a British childhood. Whether it was a rainy-day staple or a lunchtime refresher on sunny days, we all have memories of great treacle tart. We created this tart with that in mind, leading to a great balance between firm, strong pastry and soft, forgiving, and slightly chewy pie filling. The filling is delightfully flavoured, with hints of treacle, ginger, and all the other elements of the dessert classic lingering on the tongue. This tart is wonderful when it’s served warm with a generous helping of custard – a great option for anyone.
Treacle Tart
Treacle tart is a quintessentially British option, with rich caramelised sugar and treacle taking a front seat. This is a great option to serve with ice cream.
